Welcome to Tromaville, a small American town that is being terrorised by criminals while the Mayor sits idly by. Among the residents of Tromaville is Melvin, a wimpy young man who works as a janitor at the local gym. He is forever being teased and tormented by the "beautiful people" who frequent his place of work. A particularly nasty group of Melvin's tormentors devise a plot to ridicule him in front of the whole town. But the prank goes horribly wrong as Melvin crashes into a vat of toxic chemicals. The rest is history! A strange transformation takes place. Melvin becomes the huge, hulking Toxic Avenger - the first super-hero from New Jersey. Non-stop excitement ensues as this monstrous mess of mutated man sets out to single-handedly wipe out the forces of evil that contaminate Tromaville.
