Henry V (BBC)

synopsis

BBC production of the Shakespeare classic. The most nationalistic of Shakespeare's play, Henry V is a portrait of a young man who transforms from an irresponsible rebel into a majestic monarch, the story of an English world fighting for its life and an English King proving himself as ruler of that world. David Gwillim is excellent, the actor growing in stature with his character, finding the human being within the public figure until the King emerges a national hero in a setting of military glory, idealism, heroism and pageantry.
