The Riddle Of The Sands

synopsis

The year is 1901. Englishman Arthur Davies (Simon McCorkindale) is enjoying a single-handed sailing holiday through the islands off the North Sea Coast of Germany. A fateful encounter with a mysterious German yachtsman and his beautiful daughter (Jenny Agutter) arouses Davies' suspicions, and following an attempt on his life he summons his Foreign Office friend Carruthers (Michael York) and together they set out to solve the Riddle of the Sands. Is the mysterious German a spy? A double agent? Is he searching for treasure? Why have German troops arrived in the nearby port? This riveting film version of Erskine Childers' novel sustains the suspense all the way to its thrilling climax.
