Henry VIII was a man quick to become infatuated and quick to become displeased. His greatest concern was to produce a male heir to the throne. Catherine of Aragon, his patient first wife, only bore him a daughter. In 1527, Henry fell in love with the coy and flirtatious Anne Boleyn. A love affair that is one of the most remarkable courtships in British history between monarch and subject. He divorced Catherine, broke with the Catholic Church, and on January 25th, 1533, Henry married Anne in secret. A union that would last just one thousand days.
