VOLUME 3:
While Queen Victoria prepares to celebrate her Golden Jubilee, the Forsytes' fortunes continue to fluctuate.
Ann, the eldest of the family, dies, Jo's appearance at her funeral marks a great improvement in relations with her father. Soames commissions June's fiancee, Philip Bosinney to build a house outside London, though it becomes increasingly clear that Soames' wife, Irene, and the young architect are passionately in love. Gossip flies, and finally reaches Soames himself, leading to a brutal, frenzied last scene that left an indelible mark on television history.
VOLUME 4:
Autumn arrives, and the fog swirls malevolently around the streets of London.
Soames' marriage to Irene reaches breaking point as he sues her lover, Bosinney, over the country house he has built for him.
After Bosinney's death, June persuades her grandfather, Jolyon, to buy the house from Soames, and there he prepares to live out his days together with his family. But while Jo, Helene and June are in Spain, Jolyon has a visitor, who then becomes a regular guest and companion through that last, peaceful summer.
