The Turning Point

synopsis

Deedee (Shirley MacLaine), gave up her ballet career 20 years ago for motherhood at the turning point of her life. Now, as the promising career of her teenage daughter Emilia (Leslie Brown), is launched, Deedee must come to terms with herself. Emilia is enmeshed in a love affair with Yuri (Mikhail Baryshnikov), a dazzling young Russian dancer in the company, echoing the earlier complexity of her mother's choice. Deedee's relationship with Emma (Anne Bancroft), a renowned ballet dancer, examines the fixed notions of men and women, marriage versus career, life-styles and the life force. The Turning Point is a treat for lovers of superb ballet and classical music performed by world famous interpreters.
