With his family killed, the Samurai Mohei (Toshiro Mifune) is lost in despair. After arriving in the city of Osaka, the ruling Toyotomi clan enlist Mohei for his superior samurai skills in battle. Soon, his skills will be put to the ultimate test as as Osaka Castle is besieged by a powerful rival army and Mohei's daredevil nature emerges.
