Léa (Elsa Zylberstein) and Juliette (Kristin Scott Thomas) are sisters. Juliette has just been released from prison after serving a long sentence. Léa was still a teenager when Juliette, a doctor, was convicted of the murder of her six-year-old son. Life together isn't easy to begin with. Juliette has to relearn certain basics. The world has moved on and she often seems confused.

The film has a beautiful pace, we meet Juliette and gradually her story unfolds. It gives us a feeling of isolation within 'normal' life, and is ultimately a powerful story of love. There's nothing you need to unravel, it will all be revealed beautifully. Bring a hanky.

KST gives a command performance, letting her facial expressions and her silences speak more eloquently than words of the trauma she has endured and her prospects for a 'normal' post-custodial existence. A well-paced unfolding of life's painful connections.
