Brasileirinho

synopsis

In Rio in the late 1800s, Brazilian musicians started to blend European melodies, Afro-Brazilian rhythms and a melancholic interpretation of the native Indians' music: Choro was born.

Uniquely Brazilian, it was the first musical expression of Brazil's identity as a cultural melting pot, and led directly to Samba and later, Bossa Nova. Still popular today, BRASILEIRINHO traces the roots, practitioners and livelieness of the modern tropical sound.
