The Village

synopsis

The people of a late nineteenth century village have built an harmonious and idyllic community in a beautiful setting. However, the surrounding woods contain creatures of an unknown origin refered to as "those we don't speak of". Lucius Hunt (Joaquin Phoenix) is curious about the outside world but the council of elders advise him to stay at home. Lucius' strength is matched only by Ivy Walker (Bryce Dallas Howard) a beautiful young blind woman. Her devotion eventually leads her down a forbidden path where terrifying truths are revealed. Has the truce between the villagers and the creatures come to an end?
