The laughter reaches even into the chilly Alaskan Yukon when Bob Hope and Bing Crosby get together for Road to Utopia, the hilarious fourth entry in the "Road" picture series. The fun begins with Bing and Bob, rascals from the very beginning, get caught up in a race to stake their claim to the veins of a Klondike gold mine after nabbing the deed from a couple of vicious killers. Since the boys themselves are skipping town after a shady deal, they decide to adopt the murderers' identities and take the opportunity to get to know the beautiful and ambitious Dorothy Lamour while they're at it! Problem is Sal (Lamour) puts the make on both fellas in an attempt to get the deed to the mine. The incomparable humour of Robert Benchley is added in narrative as the threesome continue their frantic journey, wise-cracking all the way in the manner that made them box office favourites. Nominated for the Best Original Screenplay Oscar, Road to Utopia has been cherished as one of the funniest films ever made! The delightful songs of Johnny Burke and James Van Heusen, including the smash hit 'Personality', help the fun snowball into a rollicking blizzard of top-notch entertainment for everyone. |
