Directed by Danny DeVito, Hoffa tells the life story of Jimmy Hoffa (Jack Nicholson), a man who rose from the ranks of a street-fighting truck driver to become the well-groomed organiser of the Teamsters - the most powerful union on the planet. Despite Hoffa's all-American pursuit of power amongst the underworld of organised labour and crime, his loyalties remain as unassailably intact to his wife and daughter as they do to his blue-collared comrades. Bobby Ciaro (Danny DeVito) is a trucker who Hoffa meets on the road, at first scared to join the Teamsters, but soon becoming Hoffa's loyal aide and friend. Written by David Mamet, Hoffa is a provocative expose of the uses and abuses of power.
