Danny has been sent to boarding school, in this sequal to The Year My Voice Broke, set in rural Australia. Against a backdrop of bullying and sadistic teachers Danny strikes up an affair with an African girl, Thandiwe, studying at a nearby girls school. Their affair blossoms while everone tries to stop it. Nicole Kidman also appears as a sexually repressed senior at Thandiwes' school.

Definitely one of the best Australian films of the high school / coming of age genre. Captures the posh private school culture of that era perfectly, with some funny moments. Both Noah Taylor and baby Thandie Newton are excellent. Nicole Kidman is totally believable as the snobby yet secretly rebellious prefect.
