The big Christmas dance is coming and Andy (Mickey Rooney) is in a fix - he's made dates with steady girlfriend Polly (Ann Rutherford) and voluptuous Cynthia (Lana Turner)! It comes as no surprise that the new girl next door (Judy Garland) helps Andy out of his jam. How she does it, however, is an absolute delight, as are her renditions of "In Between", "It Never Rains But it Pours" and "Meet the Beat of My Heart".
