Napoleon and Josephine (ARMAND ASSANTE and JACQUELINE BISSET) are reunited. A royalist assassination plot fails. Napoleon and Josephine move into Versailles Palace and Napoleon declares himself Emperor of France, waging war on any country that objects. Because Josephine cannot produce an heir to the throne, Napoleon divorces her, but they remain lovers. Napoleon remarries and a son is soon born.
