The Lion In Winter

synopsis

The year is 1183. King Henry II (Peter O'Toole) invites his wife Queen Eleanor (Katharine Hepburn), who has been long exiled, to join Henry and their three sons, Prince Richard the Lion-Hearted (Anthony Hopkins in his film debut), Prince Geoffrey, and Prince John, for a family reunion. Also in attendance is Henry's mistress Princess Alais and the Princess' brother, King Philip of France (Timothy Dalton). On this fateful Christmas eve, King Henry II plans to name his successor to the throne, a title which all the participants hope to claim.
