Ko Chun (Chow Yun-Fat), the God of Gamblers has retired from his professional life of high stakes. He and his wife are now living in suburban Canada and preparing for the birth of their baby. Challenger, intent on capturing Ko's title as "The God of Gamblers", plots to force Ko out of retirement by murdering his wife in cold blood. Ko promised his dying wife that he would lie low for a year and abstain from irrational acts to avenge her death. However, Challenger stalks Ko everywhere he goes. Obsessed with the title of "The God of Gamblers", Challenger hunts Ko from Canada to the scenic West lake in China. Finally in Taiwan, the promise of his one year abstinence is up. What will Ko do?
