Englishman Alan Haldane fought during the Second World War with the Greek Resistance, becoming a legendary figure whom many Cretans still call Leandros. Thirty years later, life in England has become meaningless for Haldane: his wife killed in a car accident and his boat-building business taken over by a large company. He decides to return to Greece where as a young man he had fallen in love with an 18-year old Resistance worker. And so the story begins...but Haldane could not possibly envisage the consequences of his return, nor the tragic events that follow. Jealousy, hatred and bigotries surface. Vengeance leads to vendettas and murders...
