Run Silent, Run Deep

synopsis

Two great Hollywood stars clash in this intense and exciting World War II drama, as embittered submarine Commander Clark Gable seeks revenge on the Japanese cruiser that once sunk him off Tokyo Bay, while Executive Officer Burt Lancaster risks death and mutiny to keep the sub on its assigned course. As the action grows more frenetic and the Captain's mind more disturbed, there can be only one outcome... Academy Award-winning Director Robert Wise and screenplay writer John Gay prove to be masters of confined suspense, as a wartime battle of wits is played out beneath the ocean. American and Japanese submarines embark on a grim underwater dance of destruction in Area 7 of the Bungo Straits, known to all as the submarine graveyard.
