Deep in the countryside lies the Birkenhof asylum, an isolated kingdom over which nurse Sissi rules with gentleness and charm. On a trip to the nearby town she becomes the victim of a horrendous road accident. A mysterious passer-by saves her life, but he disappears without revealing his identity. Armed with only a button pulled from his sleeve, Sissi tracks down her saviour who turns out to be an ex-soldier and aspiring bank-robber named Bobo.
