Based on a true story of Captain Ernest Gordon, a young Scottish soldier taken prisoner by the Japanese at the height of World War II. To End All Wars is a war drama which explores man's deepest struggle for freedom in the face of inhumanity and despair. When Gordon's regiment, the elite Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, are forced to build the infamous 'Railroad of Death', the prisoners are pushed beyond endurance and against each other. Major Ian Campbell's (Robert Carlyle) defiant plans to escape and Lieutenant Tom Rigden's (Kiefer Sutherland) code of self-preservation soon run into conflict with the values of dignity and self-sacrifice shown by Gordon (Ciaran McMenamin) and POW Dusty Miller (Mark Strong). |
