In 1971, the notorious Pete Walker (Frightmare) turned to themes of treachery and greed within a sinister family in this thrilling exploitation romp starring sultry Susan George (Straw Dogs).
George plays a a go-go-dancing free spirit who has something everybody wants, namely a small fortune in ill-gotten gains left by her light-fingered mother. On the run from her psychotic half-sister and lordly father, a failed magistrate known as `the Judge' (Leo Genn), our star-crossed sweetheart pouts and peers from wounded eyes and is soon lured back to the Judge's seaside estate to await her inheritance before the blood sport begins.
Handsomely shot in the lofts of swinging London and on the sunny Portuguese coast, this stylish psycho-thriller hints at the murder and mayhem marking Pete Walker's later gore classics. |
