Set in contemporary London, this is the story of four strangers (Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman, and Clive Owen) - their chance meetings, instant attractions and casual betrayals. This is a bitingly funny and honest look at modern relationships, from Academy Award winner Mike Nichols. All four characters are beautiful people, well spoken and well dressed, but their surface appearance hides the drama and insincerity of confused lives. Anna (Julia Roberts) is a photographer searching for focus. Dan (Jude Law) is a journalist (he writes obituaries), and is a black-belt liar. Alice (Natalie Portman) is a stripper hiding behind her body and Larry (Clive Owen), is a dermatologist who gets under their skin.
