In this freewheeling, anarchic adventure set in 19th-century Mexico, an American mercenary (Clint Eastwood) rescues a nun (Shirley Maclaine) from her would-be molesters. Then he learns that the chance meeting is a stroke of luck for him because she knows a good deal about the officers in the garrison he plans to invade. This exciting, humourous Western adventure came from the pen of Budd Boetticher, with an atmospheric score by Ennio Morriconne and tough direction from the great Don Siegel.
