Tempest

synopsis

John Cassavetes is Phillip Dimitrious, the consummate dissatisfied man in this extraordinary comedy. No longer able to tolerate the compromises he has made, Phillip flees from his stormy marriage with Antonia (Gena Rowlands). He wants to wander and dream; so with his teenage daughter Miranda (Molly Ringwald), he heads for Greece. There he meets Aretha (Susan Sarandon), the spirited woman who becomes his mistress. They achieve a fragile tranquility on a nearly-deserted Greek island. The tranquility is broken however when Antonia, searching for Miranda, arrives on the island and is enveloped in a 'magical' storm.
