When her teenage son Tristan runs away, Christine gets in touch with two of her ex-boyfriends: François (Pierre Richard), a fragile neurotic, and Jean (Gérard Depardieu), a hard-edged journalist. Convincing both men that they are Tristan's true father, she sends these two incompatible characters to the South of France in search of their 'son'—with neither François nor Jean aware they are searching for the same boy. In their second film together, Richard, Depardieu and director Veber demonstrate their impeccable comic talent to great success.
