Three twisted tales of abuse, drugs, displaced personalities and insect life by Scottish writer Irving Welsh.
- 1st story: "The Granton Star Cause":
The first story is a black comedy that combines revenge, football, and religion. After a disastrous 24 hours where Boab is sacked from his soccer team, tossed from his folks home and dumped by his girlfriend, he meets God in a pub. The Almighty One transforms Boab into a fly as retribution for wasting the talents he had bestowed upon him. In his new winged body Boab is now able to avenge his foes.
- 2nd Story: "A Soft Touch":
In the second story, Johnny must make a decision when he marries the very pregnant Catriona, but as soon as the baby is born she starts shagging their psychopathic neighbour Larry.
- 3rd Story: "The Acid House":
Finally we have the speed crazed Coco Bryce, who has a fondness for mind-altering substances. In a wild leap of narrative logic, an acid-tripping Coco somehow exchanges personalities with the newborn baby of a middle-class couple; the infant wrecks havoc as it instantly starts speaking to its mother in adult English. |
