Events over the course of one traumatic night in Paris unfold in reverse-chronological order as the beautiful Alex (Monica Bellucci) is brutally raped and beaten by a stranger in the underpass. Her boyfriend and ex-lover take matters into their own hands by hiring two criminals to help them find the rapist so that they can exact revenge. I would recommend reading the special features commentary before watching. I had to watch this film in blocks. Horrendous violence; I have never seen, nor do i ever want to see again, such disgusting footage. But that was the point the director was trying to make; violence, namely rape, is not as tame as we are lead to believe by other film directors - especially in hollywood movies. Violence happens to real people and has real and horrible consequences. I didn't see the point to the graphic violence until I read the special features. Watch with your whole brain and expect to be horrified, both psychologically and physically.
