Originally released in 1974, Les Valseuses(French slang for 'balls') was universally decreed as shocking and nothing short of scandalous. It is the tale of two aging juvenile delinquents, furious with the world, who take to the road and go on an orgy of petty thievery and much much worse. Jean-Claude (Gerard Depardieu) and his weak pal Pierrot (Patrick Dewaere) are bored with life. They steal a car and take it for a joyride but when they return they are faced with the angry owner wielding a gun - so they abduct his girlfriend Marie-Ange(Miou Miou), who later becomes a cohort in many of their cruel pranks. Unfortunately, whilst making their escape Pierriot receives a wound in a very delicate part of his body so the two boys go off in search of a doctor whilst depositing Marie-Ange with a friend. Their subsequent adventure are liberally peppered with sex, violence and even tenderness that are in turn both funny and tragic.
